I work at a seven-year-old high school that was physically and academically designed as a “reform-minded” institution. Here’s our mission statement:
Our mission is to transform high school learning through meaningful Relationships, Relevant learning, and a Rigorous academic environment where every Castle View student will graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the 21st Century.
Personally, I think it’s a tad bit wordy … I’d rather this statement:
To transform learning by intentionally practicing and reflecting on what’s good for learners – of all ages.
Is this too vague?
…possibly, but I think it would stick in people’s minds and ignite (and invite) progress.
